Stand up for freedom; Join me: Our time has come!

A benefit of freedom is that you're free to take it for granted. But sometimes we are joltingly reminded that freedom did not come for free, and that we had to take our rights from those who would take them from us. And we can again.

• It is time to stand up and take back the right of habeas corpus - and to eliminate secret prisons.
• It is time to eliminate the backward-named Patriot Act.
• It is time to take back the right to a lawyer when accused of a crime.
• It is time to take back the right to confront your accuser in court.
• It is time to take back our right to a free economy, freedom from domestic spying, and from torture.

This is our government, and this is our nation.

THE ECONOMY - Eliminate George W. Bush's damaging ruling-class and corporate-interest-based economic policies. Eliminate tax benefits for companies that send Americans' jobs overseas, and create jobs for the American Working Class and our families. [As Assistant State Attorney General, I fought corporate wrongdoing, and stood up for the Working Class, recovering millions of dollars for New Mexico retired teachers, police officers, and firefighters.]

IRAQ - End this war. It was started and continued for all the wrong reasons.

CIVIL LIBERTIES - Take back our right to habeas corpus, to a lawyer, to confront accusers, and to a fair trial. Eliminate the Patriot Act.

I ask you how Paul Revere's Freedom Riders would have reacted if they knew that one day a President would corrupt their status as Patriots and name a law after them that repealed the very rights they were fighting for.

Let no one forget that this is America. Let no one forget our duties to our forefathers, and mothers, and to our children, and grandchildren. Remember that we won decisively against the British at Yorktown. We won on the shores of Normandy. We defeated Hilter, and Communism, and together we will win in this new year.
